Today we are going to learn how to prepare a fixture for a consolation tournament.
We are also going to understand what is seeding.
We are also going to learn how to seed teams in a tournament.
Before we begin you need to understand what is a consolation.
A consolation means giving a team that loses in the first round a second chance to prove itself once more.
You need to understand that a Consolation tournament is of 2 types.

We are also going to learn how to seed teams in a tournament.
Before we begin you need to understand what is a consolation.
A consolation means giving a team that loses in the first round a second chance to prove itself once more.
You need to understand that a Consolation tournament is of 2 types.
- FIRST TYPE- Each team gets two oppurtunities to play the matches.The team that gets defeated in the first round gets the oppurtunity to play in such a tournament.
- SECOND TYPE-Teams defeated in all the rounds are given an additional oppurtunity to take part in the tournament.
The method of Seeding is
- The first team to be seeded is the last team in the lower half
- The second team to be seeded is the first team of the upper half
- The third team to be seeded is the first team in the lower half.
- The last team to be seeded is the last team in the upper half.
We are now going to watch the same video we saw yesterday from consolation tournament.
It begins from 29 minutes onward.

For your assignment
- Write down the steps to fix byes in a tournament
- Write the formula for i) No of matches ii) No of teams in the upper half. iii) No of teams in the lower half. iv) Total no of byes v) No of byes in upper and lower half.vi) no of rouns
- all the above will be for a knock out tournament
